Las Colibri!

Here's that shoot that never made the cover of Caminos. Unfortunately, this collaboration with OSF never panned out. OSF didn't feel that the images conveyed the brand and message they wanted to send...so Caminos had to use one of OSF's stock images.

We had tried for several months to schedule this shoot...and the whole time, I just pictured the mariachi band looking tough. There's not many all female mariachi bands...so I wanted them to look kick ass...well, OSF wasn't too crazy about that...but the band loved them!

That's how it goes sometimes...no regrets...enjoy!

One year of Caminos' Covers!

Here's my 10 covers I shot for Caminos Magazine this past year...well, actually one is not a cover...it's from the shoot for the cover...but it's one that I like better...can you figure it out?

Also...I actually shot for 11 covers...but one didn't pan out due to circumstances beyond Caminos and my control...hmmm...perhaps I will reveal those...

Julie O'Dwyer Design Ashland!

Typically I don't shoot interiors...nor care to...but for Julie-O...I'll do just about anything!
Interior photography is kind of tedious...and not very exciting........at least I initially thought that way. But now, I'm liking it! It's getting more and more fun...I'm excited about some of the photos...and I'm finally using that way over priced Manfrotto tripod! Julie designed this room (yup, this is the same room)! That game table is kick ass!

New to me...

Due to popular demand, I have decided to post a couple of pics of my "new to me" car. After driving a pick-up truck for over 8 years...and driving a manual car all of my driving life, I bought a 1992 Mercedes 300E with an automatic transmission (I miss stick).

I bought the Benz with the money that I sold my truck with. I say this, because some people might think I have changed. Sorry folks...I'm the same Ezra...I just needed a good running car...my pick-up had issues...and I didn't want to dump anymore money into the thing. The Benz was the only car within my price range that ran and looked good!

So that's my story...and I'm sticking to it. And for all those who pray...keep my car in prayer...if this thing breaks...oh, crap...it's going to cost a pretty penny!

Four years later...

About four years ago, when we visited Oregon as part of our scouting trip (to see whether or not we'd consider moving here), we took a trip to the Redwoods. Below is a picture I took during that trip. Well, earlier this week, my parents were in town from North Carolina...so we took them on a day trip to the Redwoods. I was lucky enough to find the same trail you see below....so naturally I retook the shot.

46 months later...a few changes...

A few extras...enjoy!

Mt. McLoughlin Conquered!

First...make sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post...I have included a present!

Shortly after I moved to Oregon, I set 3 goals for the summer...climb Wagner Butte, Pilot Rock and ultimately Mt. McLoughlin. Below is Mt. McLoughlin, which I proudly completed this past Saturday with one of my hiking/dominoes partner Bobby !

Since college, I've never been too crazy about goals...I even admire Gary Fong (one of those ex-rockstar photogs making a living selling products) for not having any...but in the past 2-3 years, I have become a "Goal Person." It's not so much that the goal gives me direction (though it does), but a goal is like telling the universe, God, you, and me what's going to happen...I'm publicly telling the future!

With that said, not all of my goals get met...things happen...curve balls. But the key with setting goals is not to become dismantled when you don't achieve your goal. Everything happens for a reason...reset that goal and go after it again!

Here's Mt. McLoughlin below. 9,495 ft. It's a dormant volcano...thank God! We climbed up the right ridge...which is on the east side of the mountain.

The top left is a couple hiking with the peak in front of them.
The top middle is from the peak looking down upon the path (along the ridge).
The top right are some cool formations most likely left after it's last eruption.
Bottom left is Bobby showing us the path down!
Bottom right is one of next summer's goal - Thielsen - it's way in the back.

Here's a poorly shot collage a thousand or so feet below the peak...this side of the volcano appears to have collapsed! The peak is in middle of the other "peaks."

And here's a gift...click here...it's goal #3 for next summer! Feel free to use it as your desktop wallpaper...or print it...frame it!

Portland Timbers!

Last weekend I went up to shoot the Portland Timbers game for Caminos...let me tell you something - No other professional sports team in the USA has such loyal and rambunctious fans! Rambunctious here is a good thing! The Timbers Army is non-stop...they sing, they chant, they wave flags, they shuffle...they do everything...and they never stop doing it! As a matter of fact, they'll make most universities students sections look anemic!

If you're in Portland, get tickets...and check it out for yourself!

Here's a few pics from the match...enjoy!

La Academia!

Last week I was teaching at La Academia. La Academia is a summer program created for 7th-9th graders...they spend a whole week in college (
Southern Oregon University). It's a pretty progressive program that opens the doors for Latino students to step on campus and experience a little college life!

I was teaching my Take A Shot course...I had 2 classes...1.5 hours each class...4 days...or in other words 6 hours to get these kids shooting manually, editing, and resizing their images for print...and they did it!

They Got Money!

Here's a few of the college bound students that will receive a monetary award from SOLSF! The award will help them pay for college. A few of the students mentioned to me that they will be attending University of Portland, RCC, SOU, & University of Oregon. Some of the students will be studying Nursing, Psychology, Criminal Justice, & Video Production!
Battle of the Beans event helped raise money for these students!

Crissy!

A few of Crissy!

I've been teaching basic photography to the instructors at Southern Oregon Art Academy. The instructors will then teach their students...and then the students will be able to shoot a few quick portraits of their subject ...and paint off of the print. The alternative is having their subject sit for hours while the students paint...which isn't always realistic.

So, for our session today, Crissy sat in as our AWESOME model!

Here's a few pics...enjoy!

Wagner Butte!

As you know...I've been on a mission to climb a few mountains this summer...it's what happens when you live in "Flat Florida" for 26 years!

This past weekend, with the help of Kevin Bendaw, Bobby Arellano, and Hector 'Revista Caminos' Flores I conquered another mount on my list to climb...now all I have is Mt. McLoughlin to conquer! The pic below is Wagner Butte (7,200 ft). Below that pic is Kevin (my hiking partner)...and to the right of that pic is the rest of the crew. The bottom pic is Mt. Ashland in the foreground...and then Mt. Shasta in a distance. Enjoy!
For all my Florida Friends...these mountains are literally in "my backyard." Just a few minutes drive to the trailheads...I'm living in a fantasy world that's REAL!
